I Dream of Space Station Orphanages

Okay, so last night I had a very vivid and strange dream. It started (or at least what I can remember of how it started) with me in a space station. I’m assuming this was taking place in the future, because it was no big deal that I was in a space station with a lot of other people. Some sort of commercial trip or something.

Anyway, I’m not sure if Kendra was there or not, but the premise was that we were planning on adopting a child through this space station, which apparently doubled as an orphanage. (Just to set the record straight, we’re not planning on having a child or adopting anytime soon. This detail of the dream, like all the others, has no real life implications. Except the one about me being on one of the first commercial space flights.) Okay, so I was hanging out with two of the kids on the “bridge” of the space station. As we were sitting on a bench there, we happened to look out the window and see some large object (I’m guessing a rogue satellite or something along those lines) come crashing into the main part of the space station. This is when we started to freak out.

As the satellite crashed into the station, I could see the impact ripple down the side of the station toward the bridge like jello hitting the ground in slow motion. You know what I’m talking about. The whole space station began to tear apart, including the end of the bridge where we were.

This is where it gets a little unrealistic, if it wasn’t already. The small podlike end of the bridge that we were left in (complete with windows and bench) began to float through space with a gaping hole in the side. I don’t remember us having any sort of space suits on, but we definitely weren’t being negatively affected by the exposure. We were more freaked out by the fact that we were aimlessly drifting through space without any means of getting back to Earth.

But almost immediately, a military spaceship pulled up and hooked up to our little pod. They took us in and began the trip home. The next thing I remember was when we arrived back at Earth. This is when the dream begins to get a little fuzzy, but I’m pretty sure they landed their ship right on the beach. The end.

Pretty weird, huh? Maybe this has something to do with my recent fascination with all things space related, like Moonbase Alpha and Mars to Stay
